We’re big fans of WordPress.
WordPress was originally created as blogging software. A blog (from ‘web-log’) is typically an online journal written by an individual or a company to provide ongoing and up-to-date News and information.
However, over time and with continued development WordPress has become so much more than just a blogging tool, and is now commonly used as a Content Management System (CMS) to build websites which can then be easily edited and grown by non-technical website owners.
WordPress is an Open Source project, which essentially means that it is free to use.
There’s a huge community working on and around the WordPress solution. This community develops Themes which can be simply uploaded to your project to completely change the look and style of your blog / website.
You can also upload Plugins to add specific functionality to WordPress.
Anyway, we could go on ad-infinitum about how great WordPress is, but the real reason for this post was to let you know that a new release – WordPress 2.7 – is due out on November 10th and we’re really looking forward to getting to grips with the latest improvements …
